Started in late 2009, Ka Huila (ka who-we-la) means "the wheel" in Hawaiian. The influence of sounds from the Pacific Islands, African blues, Cuban and Latin rhythms has shaped this new musical project for two veteran musician performers, Kim Urhahn and Greg Michalski. Ka Huila has a deep interest and admiration for sounds heard in other parts of the world, where music is so much more than entertainment, it is life itself. Ka Huila is about the longing inside all of us to find a slice of paradise, perhaps it is somewhere on a distant shore .... perhaps it is right here all along.
